OC-1 Update...
Ok I did it, Dropped $1300 on an Outrigger.. Now, before you say $1300 w th**0^4 #&*#&*@!!! Understand that these cost $3000 and up new. Most of the used ones I've seen are in the $2000++ range. So I'm pretty happy!!! It is by far most gigantic thing I have ever owned.
What' it like??? It is pretty much like having sex with the whole ocean! The glide is effortless. It just cuts though the water, like butter. You don't get that tired because you switch off paddling on different sides, and it has a little rudder controlled by your feet for steering. My test runs went perfect.. No, no, huli!(flip over) Of course, I was in the Channel Islands Harbor, 28 miles south of here, which is a beautiful place for flat water... I did almost flipped it "huli" when some small waves hit me from the side. So.. getting out in the open water might be a little more entertaining for spectators??
Purchased it from a very cool, paddling couple from Ventura, Merv, and Victoria Larson. Thank You!!! They gave me a few tips and offered to go paddling with me, anytime. They seem to be a couple of early retirees also. Why wait till you 65?? Well.. I'm either going to go back to Oxnard, or check it out in SB first thing tommorow.
Aloha...
